The Library will be closed on Sundays.

Starting in October the Library will now be closed on Sundays. The rest of the operating hours will remain unchanged. And as a reminder, our hours of operation are:

Monday – Thurs 10 AM – 8 PM

Friday – Saturday 12 PM noon – 5 PM

Closed Sunday and Federal Holidays.

And please remember that if you’re using our computers, we shut them down 15 minutes prior to closing.

This change will allow the Library staff to better serve our customers with new programs, more one-on-one attention, and better marketing of all the great sections and selections in our collection.

We appreciate all of our customers and know this change will allow us to refocus on them. We’ve been listening to you and want to offer you not only an excellent Base Library, but to continue to be the best library in the area.

Beginning Genealogy returns!

On Thursday, Aug. 16 the Library will be hosting a sharing session and discussion about Beginning Genealogy. Barbara Schlafer is returning to facilitate this discussion on how and where to begin your genealogical journey. The discussion will be free and help provide you with some of the tools that will enable you to start finding your roots, focusing on your individual interests in genealogy, and getting started on gathering your family stories. We’ll also look into utilizing resources both physical and on the internet, and how to organize your research. Space could become limited and advanced registration is required.

As a special treat, there will be a door prize given at the end of the session: a copy of Family Tree Maker 2012, being donated by Ancestry.com. To qualify for the drawing, you must be present and pre-registered for the event.

Beginning Genealogy.

On Thursday, Feb. 16 the Library will be hosting a discussion about Beginning Genealogy. We’re calling it “a discussion” rather than a class or seminar because our presenter, Ms. Barbara Schlafer, wants to be prepared to deal with the needs with anyone who comes, be it the person starting off on genealogy as a hobby or the more experienced researcher (for example, if you wanted to join the Daughters of the American Revolution, that requires specific documentation). Our Beginning Genealogy session is free and will help provide you with some of the tools that will enable you to start finding your roots.

The discussion will definitely focus on your individual interests in genealogy and then getting started in gathering your family stories, discovering and utilizing resources that are both physical and on the internet, and how to organize your research. Space could become limited and advanced registration is required.
